The river-bed of my thoughts
has shifted with age, curves
flattened round straightened
sandy elbows undercut, collapsed
washed away, hard rock exposed
obstructions overcome, in heavy
runoff, breaking dams, freeing flows
too impatient to meander or ruminate
well considered channels defined
to irrigate green pastures, lyrical planes
of metrical forms, fluid propositions
movement of water that change
the embedded lay, continuous flux
the altering creative crux.
